The Killara Music Club was established in 1932 by Mrs Irene Hope-Gibson, and has grown to be the largest music club in Sydney. It has developed a tradition of bringing quality music to the Upper North Shore in its six annual concerts.
The musical programmes vary from solo recitals (the Club has its own grand piano), to vocal and instrumental groups, emphasis being given to featuring young talented artists, as well as established performers.
The Club is a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers. It is affiliated with the Federated Music Clubs of Australia and through this body is committed to supporting the advancement of music in the community, including providing prizes for a two-piano competition held every three years in memory of our founder. Membership of Killara Music Club also entitles members to attend concerts arranged by the Federated Music Clubs of Australia, including the free Delmer Concert on a Sunday afternoon.
Membership is open to anyone who is interested in classical music. If you would like to become a member, please contact the Secretary, Jill Tuffley: 9144 6324 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The annual membership fee is $72. Non-members are welcome to buy tickets at the door for any concerts on our program: $20 each, $5 for students. Supper after each concert is included.
